Mr. Earl Phillip Jacob Jr's Obituary
Earl Phillip Jacob, Jr, 89 of Mainlands 3, Pinellas Park, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was awarded medals and combat stars.
In 1958 he received his CPA certificate and began his career with the firm of Price Waterhouse. He moved to Florida in 1967 and worked for Westinghouse as a Controller. In 1968 he received his CPA certificate from Florida. He had his own CPA firm before selling it and working at several firms before retiring. He continued doing taxes after retirement for many years and worked part time at Home Shopping in Customer Service and retired in 2000.
Earl moved to Mainlands 3 in 1990. He married Janet Wilke Walls in 1991. Earl was active as a Treasurer for the Mainlands Board for 8 years.
Earl was amember of a bowling team for several years and also a member of a golf team until his health prevented him from participating. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinellas Park.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jan; a son, Dr. Phillip Jacob of Presque Isle, ME; a daughter, Sharyn of St. Petersburg, FL; a son, John, of Maui, HI; a daughter, Marybeth Coots of Pinellas Park, FL; and a daughter, Susan Fenwick of Hillsborough, NC. He also leaves behind a step-daughter, Debra Erickson of Largo, FL; a step-son, Douglas Van Teglen of Pinellas Park, FL, and a step-daughter, Donna Van Teglen of Largo, FL. He is also survived by a sister, Martha and a brother Paul of California; six grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held 2pm until 3:30pm followed by a memorial service at 3:30pm, Saturday, October 20, 2018 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th St. N, St Petersburg, FL 33709. The family requests that donations be made to Suncoast Hospice 6770 102nd Ave N, Pinellas Park, FL 33782.
