E. Marlou Watson's Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of E. Marlou Watson.
Born Evelyn Marlou Payne on July 2, 1940 in Salem, IN, Washington County the only child to parents, Nelle (Peugh) Payne and Erman Payne. She was the granddaughter of Jesse and Stella Payne also Amanda and George Peugh of Washington County IN.
Marlou graduated from Salem High School and married Rondal Lee Carty from Salem, IN. Together they had three children, Ronda Lea, Bryan Scott, and Tony Erman. She later married Elvis Wayne Watson from Jeffersonville, IN and delivered her fouth child, Stephanie Sue to complete the family.
After high school, she graduated from cosmetology and was a stylist in Salem IN. Also, during the early 1960’s she was employed at the United States Government Ammunitions Plant in Charlestown, IN.
Upon moving to Louisville, KY in the early 1970’s she worked as a bank teller for many years. She and Elvis applied, and were elected to manage and operate the largest Enco later called Exxon, newly built outlet in Kentucky.
Together, they received many awards from the corporation and discovered an opportunity from Exxon to operate and purchase a St. Petersburg, FL location. When the contract was completed with Exxon, the expansion of Elvis Towing & Transport began to grow.
Marlou was the matriarch for the business from Kentucky to Florida along with family members to the many employees over the years. They became widely recognized in the Tampa Bay Area assisting local charitable organizations, participating in fundraisers, and sponsorships.
Marlou had a love for fast cars and racing. She always had a camera ready to capture that moment. She was a photographer for Late Model Digest, a racing magazine from North Carolina plus St. Petersburg, FL race track, Sunshine Speedway assisting as the track photographer.
Not only did she love to photograph fast cars but also nature, flowers, and the family. She was very creative and artistic. Naturally talented in floral design, crafting, quilting, illustrating. She was very savvy in business and marketing as well.
Marlou will sadly be missed by family, friends, and colleagues who knew her. Join us in prayer as we celebrate her life and memory.
