Dorothy Anne McClenahan passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born in Catskill, New York, Dorothy grew up in and around Nutley, New Jersey. She later moved to California to attend college, where she met her husband, Richard McClenahan Sr. They shared 65 wonderful years of marriage before his passing. As a devoted pastor’s wife, Dorothy played piano and organ, sang in church, and dedicated herself to raising her children. Once her children were grown, she pursued her passion for nursing, earning an associate degree in nursing through the University of New York Albany Regents Program. Dorothy worked as a nursing supervisor in Florida before embarking on a life-changing journey to Zimbabwe, Africa, where she served as head nurse. Upon returning to the United States, she continued her compassionate work as a hospice nurse in Florida.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard McClenahan Sr., as well as her sons Jonathan and Timothy McClenahan. She is survived by her daughters Mary Collins (Burke) and Elizabeth Ekback (Jeff); her sons Mark McClenahan, Andrew McClenahan (Cheryl), and Richard McClenahan Jr.; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
A graveside ceremony was held on January 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
