Dorothy E. Brown's Obituary
Dorothy Elisabeth Brown was born June 3rd 1920 in Chatham, Massachusetts and died December 6th 2009 in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Elisabeth was the daughter of a Methodist minister, Rev. George J. Volz. She was the first in her family to graduate college with a masters degree in education. She moved to Florida from New Jersey where she taught school in Barrington. Elisabeth taught elementary school in Pinellas County for 25 years. She retired from Norwood Elementary school in 1974. She maintained a very active life in her church home at Saint Mark's United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, past president of the United Methodist Women and was a Stephen's Minister. She also served the community for 13 years by heading up the Tampa Bay Share program at her church. She is survived by her 2 daughters Tina Lockhart and Valona Evey, 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Her passing diminishes the world with the loss of a truly great mother and grandmother and great-grandmother.
