Dorothy Joan Boake's Obituary
Dorothy Joan Boake passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024. She was born in Kearny, NJ to Robert and Dorthea Ritchie. She was predeceased by her husband George T. Boake and her daughter Roberta Lamore. She is survived by her sons, Carl T. Boake and his wife Diane, Richard S. Boake and his wife Sharon, her adopted grandson Robert Young, and by several grandkids and great grandkids.
Dorothy grew up in New Jersey and moved to Florida at the age of 15. She met the love of her life, George, whom she married on June 28, 1952. She worked as a bank teller until she was needed in her husband's roofing business. She was office manager for the business while raising her children. After her husband retired, she worked at Eckerd Drugs in the administrative offices until she retired.
After retirement, she kept herself involved in her church and the community. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Silver Sneakers and was on the Advisory Board for the Pinellas County Sheriffs department. She loved to go on cruises with family and friends and was always ready for an adventure.
Dorothy will be remembered for her wit and charm. She left an indelible mark on everyone she met, and she will be missed by those who has the pleasure of knowing her.
There will be a memorial celebration of life at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. The family invites all to come share their memories and show support to one another.
