Donald "Don" Eugene Wing's Obituary
Donald "Don" Eugene Wing, age 89, of Clearwater, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2025. Born on September 30, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Roy A. Wing and Elsie A. Witkowski.
Don pursued his education at St. Petersburg College, earning an Associate of Science degree, and received specialized training at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. His early career included roles as an insurance salesman and medical lab technician, before he found his true calling as a Nuclear Medical Technician at the Bay Pines VA, where he built a long and successful career.
A proud veteran, Don served in both the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard. He was deeply involved in his community, contributing his time and energy to organizations such as the Northeast Lions International, the British Isles Heritage Club of Solivita, the Community Emergency Response Team, Big Brother Neighborhood Watch, and the local American Legion.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia Wing; his parents, Roy A. Wing Sr. and Elsie Witkowski; his brother, Roy A. Wing Jr.; his sister, Marie Lohanick; his grandson, Chris; and great-granddaughter, Keri Anne.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Stanley Wing (Ana), Deborah Newman, Tammie Calvert, and Sharon Miles (David); his grandchildren: Arika, Crystal, Michael, Justin, Shane, Stephanie, Cynthia "Missy," and Patrick; ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local Lions Club or Big Brothers Big Sisters Association in Don’s memory.
