Donald Wayne Schoonover, born on July 13, 1970, in Hamilton, Ohio, passed away on October 12, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida, at the age of 55. He grew up attending VanBuren Elementary and Dixie Hollins High School before pursuing a career as an auto mechanic after completing his education at Pinellas Technical College.
Donald dedicated 35 years of his life working as a mechanical technician at Icare, where his meticulous work and commitment were highly valued. Beyond his professional life, he had a deep passion for playing guitar and was an avid enthusiast of muscle cars, often seen working on a new project in his garage or discussing the latest models.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Leedke; niece, Lauren Leedke; nephew, Brian Burton, his wife Beth; and great-nieces and nephews, Mason, Austin, Brooke, and Scarlett. Donald was preceded in death by his father, James A. Schoonover, and brother, James E. Schoonover.
Services to honor Donald's life will be held on Friday, October 24th at 2 pm, coordinated by Memorial Park Funeral Home in St. Petersburg, FL. Donald's life was marked by his dedication to his family and his passions, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
