Dorene Lane
My Dad was my very best friend. He was always there for me. He raised me by himself after my Mom passed away when I was 11. I always tried not to make too much trouble for him. He is the one who inspired almost the whole family to ride motorcycles and we had many years of riding together any where from key west to Canada, and out to California. There were still places he wanted to go like ride the PCH out in California and see the redwoods but those were only a few things we did not get a chance to do.
He also enjoyed fishing, and one of the stories he loved to share was the time my brother Don and I went to lake okeechobee and ended up staying to late and getting lost on the lake, we ran both motors out of gas and ended up with the electric motor, did not find a ramp till sometime after midnight ( ok on the lake in the dark in Florida, can you say Giant mosquitos ?) The ramp ended up being about 5 miles north of where we had camp. We hitched a ride from some kids back to camp to get the boat trailer and come back for the boat, very crazy time, but we survived it, and my brother still came down the next year for more fishing! No matter what we did it was always an adventure. He will be greatly missed.
Love you Daddy!
