Diana Lynn Childs' Obituary
Diana Lynn Childs (Hlava), age 69, of St. Petersburg, FL formerly Milwaukee, WI peacefully passed away January 15, 2017 with family by her side. Her sweet demeanor and love for family, friends, and pets, was inspirational. She enjoyed reading, arts and crafts, sudoku, and riding the Harley. Diana was also active with Greyhound Pets of America (GPA) for fourteen years.
Diana resided in Grand Isle, LA and Marathon, FL with her spouse, former U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class John K. Childs prior to returning to St. Petersburg, FL. Diana lived the remainder of her days in St. Petersburg enjoying the likes of her children and grandchildren. She was an encouraging and supportive wife and grandmother with a relentless desire to see her children and grandchildren healthy and happy.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, John Keith Childs; daughter Laurie Hovatter (Aaron); son Robert Wischer (Dana); grandchildren Jessica Pettingill, Brennan Wischer (Ashley), Tyler Wischer, Kyrielle Harding, Adin Wischer and Hunter Hovatter; sister Sally Burdick; brother Butch Hlava (Marianne), and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her third Greyhound rescue, June. Diana was preceded in death by her parents Charles & Gladys Hlava; sister Marilynn Gruber (John), and brother Dennis Hlava.
A celebration of life will be held with the date and location to be decided. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that memorial donations be made to Greyhound Pets of America, P.O. Box 8071, Madeira Beach, FL 33738.
