Derek S. Carter's Obituary
Derek Shay Carter is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born on March 22, 1970 to his loving parents Burley Carter and Ruth Carter, who predeceased him. Mr. Carter was the baby boy of the family.
Mr. Carter is also predeceased by his oldest brother George Boyd, Jr., his loving sisters, Brenna Boyd, Cheryl Boyd, LaTina Kay Boyd and Buryl Carter.
Mr. Carter went to school for mechanical work, was a long time cook for Crabby Bill’s and was a business owner.
Mr. Carter was also known as Gator to many in his lifelong community. He was was well respected, well liked and well known.
Mr. Carter enjoyed fishing, cooking and entertaining others. He was jokester, enjoyed laughing and always gave unique nicknames to everyone.
He is already truly missed.
Mr. Carter is survived by his children: Derek S. Carter Jr., Tymere, Shymere, Michelle Stewart, and Zabria Lofton; and his siblings: Lisa C. Carter, Vurley J. Carter, Orrin S. Carter, and Franc S. Boyd; and a host of grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.
A visitation is being held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, June 9th, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. The funeral is Saturday, June 10th, at 11:00 am.
