David Macklin Thompson's Obituary
David Macklin Thompson was born on March 19, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Zelma and Franklin Thompson Sr. He departed this life on October 16, 2010 in St. Petersburg, FL. David graduated from St. Mary's High School in Berkley, CA and the Simmons Sales Institute. David's career led him to start a telephone answering service in San Francisco; he worked as a manager for National Shirt Shop in Oakland, CA; he was Department manager of White Front stores in Los Angeles, CA; and he was a regional sales manager of a Zayers Department Store in Chicago, IL. David, due to a job injury, was forced into an early retirement. He moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1978 where he became David Thompson "in living color." His love of the diverse and charismatic friends he met throughout his life became his extended family.
In addition to his mother and father Zelma and Frank Thompson Sr., he was preceded in death by brothers, Frank Jr. and Peter; great nephews, Araron and Tyler Thompson; his aunt, Clemmie Martin; and his uncle, Macklin Martin. David is survived by his sister, Marcia Thompson; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Karin Thompson; his nieces and great nieces, Niesha, Andrea, and Taeler Thompson; nephews and great nephews, William, Frank III, Peris, Joseph, Jalan, Thompson and Brandon; his aunt and cousins, Fannie Tardd, Maria Martin, Nina/Gerald Graham, and 5 Martin cousins; his family of in-laws, Maria and Judy; his extended family, Rick Nale, St. Petersburg, FL, Brad Fieldstein, Hawaii, Tim Hunt, Atlanta, GA, Ken Pavona, Houston, TX, Bob & Katie Kloepher, St. Petersburg, FL, Mrs. Rose Smith & family, St. Petersburg, FL, Charlott Lyon, St. Petersburg, FL; plus family and friends too many to mention.
