David L. Stanton's Obituary
Dave Stanton born June 16, 1946 and died February 4, 2020. Dave was 73 years old. Grew up in St. Petersburg and attended Hampton Dibo Academy where he played football, some guitar and loved to play the piano. Dave often played the piano throughout his life.
He enlisted in the Navy at age 20. Dave served in the US Navy for over 24 years, driving the boats. He often portrayed a soldier at the productions for the 4th of July at Park Place Wesleyan Church. Dave rode a Harley Davidson and Triumph chopper motorcycle. He once went with some friends on a long road trip riding his motorcycle out west. While camping along the way, he once woke up to a wolf in his face! Dave was a devoted son. His great love for his mother was a strong bond and he cared for her and took care of her needs throughout her life.
Dave enjoyed flying ultralights with his brother Doug, who preceded him in death. Dave loved to grill, cookout with friends, camp, go canoeing, and family gatherings where he was often called upon to carve the turkey at Thanksgiving. He loved sunsets, NASCAR, WWE, attending truck pulls, playing dice, TV shows such as Treehouse Masters.
However, his greatest love may have been spending time with his grandchildren Hailey and Kori. He loved taking them places and watching their flag football games. He adored his family. Dave was loving called, “pops” and “papa” I believe through my conversations with Dave that his greatest gift was 1. God and 2. His family.
