Mr. David Fenton's Obituary
David Fenton, of St. Petersburg, died on November 27, 2009. Born on October 30, 1929 in the Bronx Borough of New York, he was a son of the late Isidore and Francis Fenton. He worked for Fenton Hats from 1948 until 1952. He joined the Naval Reserve in August of 1952 and remained in the Navy until June of 1954. He served part of that time on the USS Missouri, the battleship that hosted Japan's surrender in World War II. David once told a story of how he spilled paint on the actual "surrender deck" of the ship. "They almost killed me for it," he told those listening to the story. After his discharge, David became interested in politics; working on several campaigns in New York. He also worked on the campaigns of both Robert Kennedy and Jimmy Carter. David moved to St. Petersburg, FL in the early 80's and worked for the AAA Auto Club from 1988 until 2009. He won several awards there for sales production. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy and a sister, Pearl Sotnek. David is survived by his wife Helen, sons Robert and Michael; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Lyndsay, Joshua, Emily, Cassandra, Michael, and Ashley.
