Dave Whitman's Obituary
Whitman, David Charles (Dave) age 79 of Kenneth City, Florida, passed away on 1-31-16. Dave was born October 20, 1936 in Hackensack, NJ. He is survived by his loving “bride” of 28 years, Victoria, sisters Joan Ritchie and Dorothy Giordano, son David, daughters Virginia Cox and Kerry Gibson, Aunt Marian Stapert, best friend George Lytwyn, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, and cousins.
Dave was co-owner of the Friendly Variety Corp in Irvington and Newark, NJ and the Franklin House Hotel in Belmar, NJ. Once in Florida, Dave managed a Save-A-Step store in Lehman. He later owned “The Gift Shelf” with his “bride” in St. Petersburg.
His hobbies included being a devout NY Mets fan, Sudoku, stamp collecting, playing slot machines and playing cards/games with his mother-in-law Frances McNerny and sister-in-law Deb Adams.
He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him, including his cats Lil’ Blackie (Sheba and Shadow) who helped him through rough illnesses.
