Dodds, Danny 61, of Treasure Island, FL passed away January 8th, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Dodds, mother Carolyn Overly-Wilson. Preceded in death by his father Bobby Dodds and sister Shannon Pultz. He is survived by brothers; Bobby Dodds of Trinity Alps, CA, Larry (Barb) Dodds of Gomer OH, Rhett (Marsha) Wilson of St. Petersburg, FL, Kenny (Liz) Dodds of Charlotte, NC, and sister Sherry Dodds of St. Petersburg, FL. Danny was born on December 2nd, 1951 in Kenton, Ohio and was raised in Lima, Ohio. Danny graduated from Lima Senior High School where he met the love of his life, Stephanie A. Everhardt-Dodds. Danny was a wonderful man whose passions were numerous, including his treasured 1964 Corvette, but none of those came close to the love he felt for Stephanie, to whom he was married for 40 years. Another of Danny's lifelong interests was restoring his '64 Corvette to show condition. He was awarded First Place in the McDormott car show and was also featured in the "Corvette Magazine". Danny's career was born of his love of cars. He started his auto detailing business in Ohio and carried it to Florida with him. For 30 years "A Touch of Class" a high line car detailing fulfilled Danny's passion which eventually segwayed into dyeing leather and detailing auto interiors for Mercedes. Danny's personality was bigger than he was. He had a magical flare for taking the most mundane occurrence and making it into a hysterical event. He would make you laugh so hard it hurt, and then he kept making you suffer more with laughter. He was that guy who could just give you a particular look and make you burst into laughter, especially at the most inappropriate times. Danny made the most of his natural ability to make you laugh and performed standup comedy in local clubs and venues. He modeled his humor after his idol, Red Skelton, whose sensitivity to people and their feelings never had you laughing at someone, only with them. He also had a unique way of keeping it clean and avoided cursing. As Danny matured in his life his love for music did also. His passion for music led him to teach himself the guitar. He wrote many songs, recorded a few CD's, played in local Pubs, Bars, Lounges, and at friends' parties. With his own songs he performed at open mic nights in Nashville, where he and Stephanie would make a point to stop in each year on their way to Ohio. Through playing music Danny also had quite a collection of attractive guitars, drums, jukeboxes, and most anything that made beautiful music. He was our very own "Beach Cowboy". Then there was Danny's love of fishing... Danny always had his rods and reels ready to go if one of his friends called to invite him for a day offshore. And he had a unique fishing style, all his own. His good friend Joe lovingly referred to Danny as "Captain High Hook". If you saw Danny fish, you knew the nickname fit. If he wasn't on the water he was fishing off his dock, or putting bait in his crab traps. He even made his own underwater light to lure in the fish and crabs. When he did bring home the catch of the day, his grill was ready to cook up a delicious meal. When he didn't bring home the "big one", he served up even bigger fish tales. Many years Danny and Stephanie considered themselves professional cruisers of the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. They loved their vacations and cherished their time together. They became so knowledgeable they knew what cruise line to take, what type of cabin to stay in, the ins and outs of room service or offshore excursions, that all of their friends looked to them for guidance when going on a cruise. Along with that knowledge of cruising came plenty of stories... You had to look out for his stories, or you could very well end up with stories of your own, if you took him too seriously! Danny was many things to his family and countless friends. He was a big kid, with a bigger heart. He was a gracious host who would make you a fantastic meal. He was a loyal friend, a caring and helpful neighbor. His creativity and humor was lost on no one. He loved the beach, the water, the sunshine and warm weather. Danny was extremely loved by everyone. No one could deny that the warmth and sunshine he brought to our lives made our worlds a better place to be.
