Dan Marshlack's Obituary
Dan "GGpa" Marshlack, age 92, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on January 11, 2024. Born on October 2, 1931, in Tel Aviv, Israel, Dan was the beloved husband of the late Ana "TaTa" Marshlack.
Dan was a man of many talents and interests. He was known as one of the smartest and strongest men in the world, admired for his dedication and hard work.
His greatest joy in life was his family, and he was a loving father of four, a proud grandpa of eight, and a doting great grandpa. Dan was always there to support and care for his loved ones. He leaves the family with his words of wisdom, including: “DBG” (don’t be greedy), “In the U.S.A. money does grow on trees, you just have to be willing to climb the tree and pick it off.”, and “If you don’t have the cash for it, you can’t afford it.”
Dan was a sports enthusiast, cheering for the underdog. He took pleasure in taking four generations to the Tampa Bay Rays and University of Miami games.
He was a selfless individual who did not seek recognition for his actions. Instead, he focused on helping those who were striving to better themselves. Dan was a true role model and a pillar of strength for his family and friends.
In addition to his family, Dan leaves behind a legacy of accomplishments. He served in the Israeli Army during World War II and the Israeli Independence War from 1944 to 1948. After his military service, Dan pursued a successful career as an engineer, inventor, and manufacturer. He invented numerous machines and tooling for the woodworking and dry-cleaning industry, many of which are still in use today. Dan was also a savvy business and real estate investor.
Outside of his professional life, Dan had a passion for the arts. He was a talented sculptor and painter, and his creations brought beauty and joy to those who saw them. Dan was also an avid traveler, exploring different parts of the world and immersing himself in various cultures.
Dan's memory will be cherished by his children: Dane Marshlack, Sharon (Mark) Memmer, Deborah Kelly, and David Marshlack; his grandchildren: Justin Marshlack, Dean Marshlack, Jason Memmer, Jacqueline Fletcher, Alexis Kelly, Dylan Marshlack, Rachael Marshlack, and Rylie Marshlack; and his great-grandchildren: Nissim Sabados and Ryan Marshlack.
