Chester L. "Vern" Hunter's Obituary
Chester L. "Vern" Hunter of St. Petersburg passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2024 surrounded by family. He and his wife Leta, moved here from Berkley, Mi in 1974 when they bought Charlie’s Oyster Shucker Tavern at Blind Pass. There he met many wonderful ‘locals’ that are friends to this day. He eventually worked 25 years for the city of St. Pete Beach before retiring. He was proud to be the commander of the American Legion Post #125 He served our country in WW II
Survivors include his children, Deborah Lee (Rick), Kimberly Koechley (John), Greg Hunter (Kathy), his grandchildren, Jennifer Cunningham, Johnathon Koechley ( Julia)
Elizabeth Hoffman (Robert), Ryan Lee, Rainey Evans-Rosenburger and great grandchildren, Jake, Jack and Delaney Cunningham, Joni and Elsie Koechley, Jacob Gillespie, Laurie and Francis Rosenburger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leta Hunter and children, Laurie Daugherty, Kathy Centanni and Michael Letourneau
A celebration of life will be held July 13th, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the American Legion Post #125, 6440 5th Ave S, St. Petersburg, FL 33707. In lieu of flowers, if so inclined please consider a gift to The American Legion Post #125 Gulfport. Please leave your thoughts on the tribute wall link.
