Charlotte Barrows' Obituary
Charlotte Barrows, beloved sister, mother and grandmother born 10/24/1922 has passed from this world at the age of 101 on 16th February 2024
Born to Oliver Hazard Perry and Alice Pearl Shepard. Charlotte was the second youngest daughter of 5 siblings; Creighton, Alburn, Donnia and Marilyn. A part of the greatest generation, she truly had a great life.
Growing up in Massachusetts, Charlotte started her career as a clerk in the divorce court and during WWII started working for the USO. This time combined with ballet and tap lessons as a child propelled her life long love for dancing - a hobby she continued into her late 80s. After meeting her husband, Roger Barrows they were married and moved to Florida in 1957 along with Roger’s son, Roger Allen.
In Florida, Charlotte and Roger had three children (Lori, Brenda and Troy) living in St Petersburg and the family home that became a hub for the extended family for nearly 60 years.
When her husband died, Charlotte had 3 teens at home and managed their upbringing, the family home and her own career.
Charlotte was a dedicated Pinellas County school crossing guard retiring after 30 years of service and commendations from the city. She also was an active Avon lady winning many awards.
The matriarch of wide family that loved her dearly, she is survived by 9 grandchildren (Jamie, Danielle, Devin, Ariel, Dana, Dakota, Martina, Jade, Jett) a step grandson, Owen as well as one great grandchild, Dakota Jr.
One of her absolute favorite activities was dancing at the American Legion in Madeira Beach. She would often enjoy a Madras cocktail there with her many friends enjoying music and dancing and beautiful sunsets.
