Charles E. "Pete" Van Vleet Jr's Obituary
Van Vleet, Charles "Pete" E. Jr, 78 (Retired USMC), of St. Petersburg, passed into eternal sleep on June 25, 2014 at his home. Pete faithfully served in the United State Marine Corps for 31 years, retiring in 1980 as a First Sergeant. While serving, he completed 6 tours during the Vietnam War and another 2 tours in the Korean War. His courageous service earned him 4 Purple Hearts as well as a Medal of Valor. Pete was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth "Liz" in 2007. He will be deeply missed by his committed companion Karen Lundgren; his loving children Sheryl Fitzpatrick, Linda Alger and David Randall "Randy" Van Vleet; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Pete also leaves behind sisters Sue, Jane and Margaret.
