Mr. Charles S. Smith's Obituary
SMITH, Charles “Chuck”
76, of Old Northeast, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018. A life- long resident of St. Petersburg, FL, Charles spent much of
his childhood fishing at the Pier downtown and riding around with his pet chicken named Arthur. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War as a Rescue Swimmer. After discharge, he had a successful career in construction as a site foreman working on many projects including Splash Mountain of Disney World. He loved fewer things in life than spending time with his daughter, Amelia on a fishing boat. Charles was an avid fisherman with a wealth of knowledge about the best local spots. He enjoyed telling stories about all of the fish that he caught in Tampa Bay and the Gulf. Charles also loved deals and shopping at Publix every Thursday. His favorite foods were McDonald’s cheeseburgers with lots of bacon and Publix chicken tender subs. Charles will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Amelia; son-in- law Chris; and his grandson, Joseph. Charles will also be fondly remembered by his sisters, Martha Reed, Polly Burtner (Ken Burtner); many nieces and nephews in addition to neighbors and friends. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Debrah Ann.
