Charles "Gale" McFarland's Obituary
McFarland, Charles “Gale”, 76, of Seminole, passed away January 28, 2017 from a heart attack. Gale was born September 29, 1940 in Saginaw, MI and moved with his family to St. Petersburg in 1956. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy, daughters Jeanine and Denise McFarland, brothers Thomas (Iris) and Kenneth (Mary) McFarland and sisters Sally Dorsey and Alice (Lynn) Edwards and many nieces, nephews and dog Dottie. Gale worked at Fletcher’s Harley-Davidson, a family business, for 13 years and a few years at Florida Power. He decided to go into business for himself polishing the stainless steel on classic cars which he was well known for. He was an avid collector of over 25 antique cars, numerous car parts and 20 Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He has several different cars he raced at local drag strips in the 50’s and 60’s and pitted with Don Garlits at the Indy Nationals. He lived and breathed cars and motorcycles. There will be a viewing Thursday, February 2, 6-8pm and funeral services Saturday, February 4, 11am at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any animal charity of your choice.
