Mr. Charles Edward Hooks Sr.'s Obituary
HOOKS, Charles Edward of St. Petersburg, passed away July 20, 2014 at Bayfront Hospice. He was born in Swainsboro, GA to Jesse and Callie (Rich) Hooks and moved to St. Petersburg at the age of 2. He is survived by Claire, his wife of 55 years. He also leaves behind 1 sister, Billie Crowell; 2 sons, Charlie and Jim and daughter-in-law Cheryl; a daughter, Sue Rader and son-in-law Colin; 3 grandchildren, Curtis, Clay and Morgan; and has a great-grandson on the way. Dad loved his family, making his family his priority and imparting strong family values in everyone around him. He is predeceased by 2 brothers, Carlton (Ray) Hooks and Harry Hooks; 2 sisters, Martha Bryant and Joyce Sheets. Charles has many relatives in St. Petersburg, FL and Swainsboro, GA. Charles retired after over 30 years with GTE as a Special Services Supervisor. His favorite past-time was spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking, making items to be shared. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday, July 24, at 10 am, with funeral and burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer and/or Diabetes Research. The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Rina Diaz and all the doctors and nurses at St. Anthony's Hospital ICU, Florida Cancer Specialists and Suncoast Hospice for their compassion and care.
