Carolyn Joyce Kling-Ellis' Obituary
Carolyn Joyce Kling Ellis, 79, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away peacefully at Largo Medical Center on June 17, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 29, 1945. She grew up in New Hyde Park, Long Island. Her family moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1958. She attended Largo High school where she helped to form the Largo High School Marching Drill Team. She graduated in 1963. She attended St. Petersburg Junior College and worked at Sperry Microwave Electronics. She was an early member of the Catholic Singles Club and volunteered with children at UPARC.
After taking time to have her two sons, Carolyn went on to become a real estate agent in 1982. She first joined Marie Powell Realty and then Caldwell Banker Realty. She later would become a broker/owner of two companies. She began Caldwell Banker Hashem Realty Group in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1994 and later Tierra Verde Realty, inc. in Tierra Verde, Florida. Carolyn became a member of the Pinellas Board of Realtors in 1982 and would serve as President in 2007. In 2022, the Pinellas Board of Realtors would award her with the distinction of “Realty Emeritus”, recognizing her 40 years of continuous realty service to her community.
Carolyn’s favorite times were spent with her family. She was always up for a celebration. She enjoyed supporting her granddaughters in their various activities from equestrian shows, gymnastic meets or watching them in their various school performances.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, James H. Walters (1988), her mother Alice E. Walters (2013), her second husband Roger Kling (2007) and third husband Bob Ellis (2018). She is survived by her sons John Brennen Hashem (Lisa) and Mark Hashem. Her granddaughters Catie, Meg, Aevry, and Natalie. Her sister Barbara Walters Arnold and brother Jim Walters (Kathy). Her niece Breann Allen (Ronald) and two great nephews Alaric and Atticus. Her first husband Cliff Hashem.
A memorial service in Carolyn's honor will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, July 12 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, light refreshments will be served. A Funeral Mass will be held the following morning, July 13 at 10:00 am at St. Jude's Cathedral. Following the mass, any one who wishes to accompany the family as Carolyn is laid to rest is invited back to Memorial Park Cemetery to pay their final respects.
