Carol Ann Valdes of Gulfport, FL. passed away Sunday, March 17th, 2024. She was 79 years young. Carol was born November 4th, 1944 in Memphis, TN. to the late Alf Harold Evensen and Mary Virginia (Pyfer) Evensen. The family moved to Vicksburg, MS. in 1945, Carol's father Alf was employed by the U.S. Lighthouse Service at this time and the family moved to several states before settling down in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. from 1953-1966. While living in Sault Ste. Marie Carol attended Garfield Elementary, Sault Ste. Marie Junior High, and Sault Ste. Marie HighSchool where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen her senior year. She graduated in 1963. She then attended Sault Ste. Marie Tech and Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. where she majored in education. Carol moved to St. Petersburg, FL. in 1973 where she met Robert Valdes, they later married in 1977 on Treasure Island at Church by the sea, and settled in at Capri Isle. On July 3rd, 1979 Carol gave birth to her son Kevin. Over the years Carol's life revolved around her family and raising her son. Being a mom was her greatest joy, aside from being an actress. As an actress she was involved in Musical Theater, Gulfport Community Players, and was also the Treasurer of the Gulfport Historical Society. Carol truly lived her life to the fullest and always with a smile on her face. She enjoyed sailing, spending time with her family, and of course being on stage. Carol was a proud member of Sunshine City AA which she attended religiously for 37 years. She was a beautiful soul and truly loved by everyone who knew her. She was known by Carol, Carol Ann, Momma, and Grammy but her three favorites were Momma, Grammy, and Carol Ann. Carol is survived by her son Kevin, daughter-in-law Brianne, and granddaughter Kaylea. She is also survived by her brother Harold, Thomas, and Ronald, her brother Bruce and Sister Mary have passed on but will never be forgotten. Carol was the third youngest out of all six siblings so she is also survived by many niece's, nephews, and cousins.
