Carol Lee Maroney's Obituary
SEMINOLE – Carol Maroney, 80, died December 31, 2022, from complications from a stroke at the Tierra Pines Nursing Home.
She was born October 18, 1942, in Washington D.C. the daughter of George R. and Bert (Kirschner) Marston. She grew up in Turtle Creek, PA and later moved to St. Petersburg, FL where she graduated from Northeast High School. After school she married and had two sons living in central St. Petersburg, FL. She loved living on the water and lived in a house on God’s Island, and a houseboat in Hurricane Hole, Tierra Verde; a house on Riveria Bay, St. Petersburg and later moving to a house on the Homosassa where she lived many years enjoying river life with family and friends. In 2015 she moved back to Seminole to be closer to family.
Throughout her life she always had a love for animals, both the usual and the unusual, taking in orphaned and injured cats, dogs, raccoons, opossums and birds of all types.
Over the years she worked at ECI, a defense contractor, ran her own day care center, Homosassa Wildlife Park, cook at a grill and at numerous gift and retail shops.
She was predeceased by both of her parents. Surviving her are sons Scott Maroney, Largo, FL (wife, Stacey Maroney) and Allen Maroney, Pinellas Park, FL, grandsons Matthew Maroney and Eric Maroney and great grandson Eric Maroney, Jr.
