Carol Whitehurst Holland's Obituary
Carol Whitehurst Holland, age 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on January 6, 2026.
A native Texan, Carol was born in Fort Worth in 1936 and raised in Houston where she graduated from Lamar High School. Carol went on to Duke University where she graduated in 1958 and met her future husband, Langston Holland. They were married in Houston in 1958 and made their home in St. Petersburg. Together they have four sons: Langston, Jr. (Ellen), Troy (Judy), Albert (Elizabeth) and Elliott (Miranda). They have 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many beloved family members.
Besides her family, Carol was committed to the St. Petersburg community. Carol was a steadfast supporter of PARC for more than 60 years, serving as Board Chair in 1965/1966, receiving the Lifetime Humanitarian Award in 2022. She served on many boards, including: Canterbury School, Great Explorations, the Junior League, Eckerd College, the Community Foundation and Academy Prep where she was the honored recipient of the Jeffery L Fortune Dream Maker Award in 2012.
She was blessed not only with a family who loved to play golf, tennis and snow ski together, making treasured memories at their homes on the Rainbow River and in Park City, but also with many dear friends she made through her community activities and her church, First United Methodist Church of St. Petersburg.
Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church 212 3rd St N, St. Petersburg 33701 on Thursday, January 15th, 2026 at 11 AM.
