Brenda Bartlett Poff's Obituary
Brenda Bartlett Poff
65, of St Petersburg, Florida passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 from a cerebral stroke.
She was born in Morgantown, West Virginia and moved to Florida with her family at a young age. She graduated from the University of Florida and received her masters degree at the University of South Florida. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.
Her passion was education and children and prior to her retirement she spent over 30 years in the Pinellas County School System. She began her career at Seminole High School as a social studies teacher and guidance counselor. She was also dean at Largo Middle School and assistant principal at Seminole Middle School. She then became principal at Madeira Beach Middle School, where she served for 17 years. Brenda finished her career as principal at Dunedin Middle School. During her years in education, Brenda touched and improved many lives. She was known for her positive outlook, hard work, leadership and vision. It was a frequent occurrence to be with Brenda anywhere in the county, even after retirement, where she would be warmly recognized by former students or teachers.
Brenda had a zest for life, love of family and friends, traveling and keeping busy after retirement by renovating houses. She learned to do much of the work on the houses herself and it gave her a real satisfaction in seeing her finished product.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Pauline Bartlett and is survived by her beloved son, Logan David Poff, sisters Joyce Baffi, Debra Lindroth, brother, Scott Bartlett, nieces, Erika, Kristina and Jade, great nephew, Axel, and the very special person in her life, Fred Gianiny.
