Betty Jean Watson's Obituary
Betty Jean Watson, 73, of Pinellas Park passed away June 11, 2015, in Dunedin. Reception will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on June 27 from 1 to 4 pm.
Born in Haleyville, Alabama, Betty is predeceased by her parents Jack and Sue Mixon of Daytona Beach. A graduate of Seabreeze High School, Betty was an avid bowler and loved watching car races on the beach. Betty married David Watson in 1963 and moved to St. Petersburg to work as a keypunch operator at Honeywell. Over the years she also worked for Robinson's, CD Data, GE, and Martin Marietta. Betty enjoyed watching two sporting events at once while eating a juicy hamburger. Her perennial quest for snow, icicles, and waterfalls in the Smoky Mountains always proved to be a great adventure. Betty will be remembered for her devotion to animals and her goofy sense of humor. Her annual rendition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer kicked off our holiday seasons. Despite her many health issues Betty's joyous spirit never waned. Betty's last wishes are for everyone to love unconditionally and to accept each other for who they are.
Betty is survived by her husband David; sister Patricia Voelker (SC); daughters Ginger Brengle and Rebecca (Craig Roberts) Watson; son Chip Watson; niece Amy Voelker; and three grandchildren Nicholas (Ariel) Brengle, Hayley Brengle, and Alexander Roberts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pet Pal Animal Shelter, 405 22nd St S., St. Petersburg 33712.
