Betty L. Gillespie's Obituary
Betty L. Gillespie, 89 of Seminole, FL, graduated to Heaven peacefully at home on October 7 with her family and a Hospice nurse by her side. Betty was born May 2, 1934, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Elby and Hazel Price. She was preceded in death by two sisters Dorothy and Thelma along with two brothers Ralph and Jack.
Betty met and married the love of her life, Henry Gillespie in Clearwater, FL and were married on May 27, 1954, who preceded her in death on August 6, 2003. She is the much-loved mother of Tom, Mike (Teresa) and daughter Gail Gillespie. Cherished grandmother of Jessica, James, Jacob, Miranda, Dillon, and Melanie and great grandmother of Layla, David, AJ, Clay, and Paisley along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was beloved by all those who spent time with her, her smile lit the room when she walked in. She loved serving the Lord, singing in the choir, and answering phone calls in the middle of the night at the prayer center even when she had to be at work early the next morning. She also loved sharing the Gospel of Jesus with everyone she met.
A celebration of life viewing will be held on Monday October 16, between the hours of 1-2:30 followed by a graveside ceremony at 2:30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 5750 49th St, N., St. Petersburg, FL. The graveside ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Fred Cooley of The “Lighthouse” at Friendship Baptist Church.
