Mrs. Betty Howard Dileanis' Obituary
Betty Howard Dileanis, of St. Petersburg, Florida, entered into rest at her home on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the age of 92. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 54 years, Pete. Betty will be fondly remembered as a loving mother and Mimi. She is survived by her three daughters, Peggy Dileanis (Tracy) Deihr, Jill Dileanis and Tracie Dileanis Weich; and three grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Deihr, Bryan Charles (Kayleigh) Deihr and Russel Cameron Weich.
Betty was born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and during her lifetime, she held several secretarial positions. After marrying Pete in 1944, she actively supported his successful U.S. Army military career as an outstanding officer’s wife, which included moving 23 times throughout tours within the United States, Greece and Korea.
Betty thoroughly enjoyed traveling and became an avid golfer throughout the years, belonging to several women’s golf leagues where she held various leadership positions. Her golf experiences included rating golf courses, marshaling multiple tournaments, and attending 17 Masters and several Ryder Cups in Europe. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress and enjoyed knitting.
Betty was a member of the Tampa Yacht & Country Club for 38 years, and was a member of the Northeast Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg.
The family wants to extent their special appreciation to their beloved mom’s Home Instead caregivers, who have become part of the family over the last couple of years; Kathie, Angela, Robin and, especially, Pam for all their loving and caring concern.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida. Betty will be interred with her husband at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
The family wishes in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s honor, to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Boulevard, Clearwater, FL 33760.
