Betty Jean Burnett's Obituary
The story of Betty Jean Burnett began on January 12, 1931, in the red-clay fields of North Carolina, where calm days and open skies shaped a gentle spirit. From the outset, faith guided her steps, and kindness marked her way.
Television evenings, a fresh Sudoku page, and Sunday church outlines framed her weeks. These simple patterns delighted her, offering steady ground in a changing world. Sunday after Sunday she could be found in church, joining the fellowship of believers and lifting her voice in praise. That weekly rhythm shaped her heart and gently guided her family toward the same hopeful path. Friends and family knew her as always having a gentle spirit and a welcoming heart.
She carried love that reached both the living and the dearly remembered. Samuel Burnett, her husband, and daughters, Debbie and Wanda preceded in death before her; her parents, Porter and Flora Johnson, also went on ahead. Today, her daughter, Paula Rainault and son-in-law, Gilbert Rainault, hold the memories close as her surviving relatives along with 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and those who were blessed to have crossed her path.
Betty’s final chapter closed May 2, 2026, at Advent Christian Village in Live Oak, Florida, a place whose quiet halls welcomed her last sunrise. Peace settled gently, as natural as breath.
Her kindness stays with every person she touched, steady as a hymn remembered by heart. May that calm song remain as we give thanks for the grace that carried her and trust that she now rests in the eternal peace promised to every faithful servant. May the God she followed so faithfully comfort all who mourn and fill them with the same unwavering hope she carried every day.
Betty will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery: 5750 49th Street N., Saint Petersburg, FL 33709
