Bertha Voss' Obituary
Bertha Anderson Voss, age 97, died peacefully in her sleep in St. Petersburg, FL on April 18, 2022, one year after her only son, Bill Voss, passed away.
Bertha was born and raised in Massachusetts. She was one of five sisters born to Finnish parents, Emil, and Jenny Honkaleto Anderson. She spoke fluent Finnish. Bertha was married to William R. Voss, Jr. who passed away in June 1985. They had one son, William R. Voss, III, who passed away in April 2021 from Alzheimer's Disease.
Bertha's true passion was the beach, which she would walk to on a daily basis. She also loved playing the piano and singing Christian hymns and Christmas carols. Bertha was fond of reading and quoting the Bible and attended the Church by the Sea. She loved cats and owned several in her lifetime. Bertha was definitely "one of a kind" and had a great sense of humor. She always had a funny story to tell, which her family never quite knew whether to believe or not (chuckle). She and her sister, Elvie would get into some lively debates, after which, they would both be rolling their eyes at us. After Bertha's husband passed, she had to learn to drive again and get a driver's license. Thankfully, she never wandered too far from home in her car!
Bertha is survived by one sister, Ruth, two granddaughters, Amy Voss Rodenbrock and Melanie Voss, and three great grandchildren, Sophie and Jonah Rodenbrock and Reyna Voss.
A graveside service will be held on April 29, 2022, for immediate family members. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery along with her beloved husband and cherished son.
