Mr. Bernard A. Gronowicz's Obituary
Bernard A. Gronowicz, age 97, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on October 7th, 2017 in Largo. He was born on August 22nd, 1920 in Gardner, Massachusetts to his parents Adam and Veronica (Kotoski) Gronowicz. Bernard graduated in 1938 from Gardner High School. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp 34th Photo Recon Squadron in Europe during WWII. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and was the first crew chief with 50 unaborted missions. Retired after 35 years with New England Telephone and Telegraph in 1982. He served for many years as a volunteer firefighter in Otter River, MA and was also a member of Ovila Case VFW Post #905 in Gardner, MA. Bernard moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1982. Preceded in death by his wife of 69 years: Bernadette M. (Bacewski) Gronowicz (2010); brother Rudolph (2009) and sister Suzanne (2011). Survived by his son Bernard H. (Susan) Gronowicz of Largo, FL; grandchildren Bernard J. Gronowicz of Winchendon, MA and Matthew S. Gronowicz and his girlfriend Caroline Dawson of Westminster, MA; many nieces and nephews.
