Anne Marie Coughlin's Obituary
Anne Marie Coughlin, a remarkable woman, passed away on March 30, 2024. Born in Leominster, Massachusetts, to Italian immigrants Joseph Picucci and Concetta Lombardi Picucci, Anne Marie was one of twelve children. Her upbringing was steeped in a strong Catholic faith, which shaped her character and guided her throughout her life.
As a spirited athlete, Anne Marie fearlessly embraced every sport her school offered. She excelled in softball, tennis, and volleyball. Her talents also extended beyond sports. She discovered her rhythm and learned to play the drums. She also loved to dance.
Against several odds, Anne Marie pursued higher education at Boston University. In 1949, she graduated with a bachelor’s of arts degree in Languages, a testament to her determination and intellect. Fluent not only in English and Spanish, she spoke Italian, French, and Latin as well. She reveled in the beauty of language and used it to connect with people across cultures. She would regularly go to Spain with the Spanish Club.
Travel was one of her many passions. Anne Marie crisscrossed many countries collecting memories like precious souvenirs. She even embarked on a month-long tour of Europe, savoring its diverse landscapes, cuisines, and traditions.
Anne Marie’s athleticism endured, and she continued to play tennis, line dance, and bowl well into her golden years. Her spirit remained unyielding, a beacon of inspiration for her family and friends.
She will forever be cherished and lovingly remembered by her three daughters Maria (Perry) Reed, Rosanne Coughlin, and Patricia (John) McCormack
Her legacy extends to her four grandchildren: Marisa Reed, Jaclyn Coughlin, Patricia Reed, and Sean Coughlin. In the sweet circle of life, Anne Marie welcomed her great-grandson, Owen Reed Florence, into the world.
She is also survived by her brother Richard Picucci, and sisters Margaret Marro and Marian Carluccio.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Anne Marie’s life will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, April 6, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Let us gather to honor her memory and share stories. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Judes.
