Anna Maria Melendez's Obituary
Anna Maria Melendez went to be with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ on February 11th, 2020 at the age of 68.
Born in Naples, Italy on December 28th, 1951, Anna came to the United States at the age of 6 with her father Francis Carlos and mother Serafina Angelone. She spent her formative years in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, before settling down in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she met and married Tomas Sevilla Melendez.
Anna worked as a hair stylist in the Tampa Bay area for a number of years. She retired fufilled and inspired to pursue her true and life-long passion that is the all-enduring ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Anna was fearless in her commitment to the Almighty and boldly spoke the truth of the gospel tirelessly. Her service to others in Christs' name was a defining characteristic along with her beautiful singing voice and charismatic, energizing personality. Anna had a deep love of music and art, painting cherished pieces for the family and always encouraged creative pursuits. She regularly attended art classes at a local senior center and collected books on the subject. Anna was also very proud of her Italian heritage and loved Italo-Mediterranean cuisine and culture. Anna will most importantly be remembered as an extraordinarily devoted, loving wife and mother, raising 7 children together with her husband Tomas.
She will be forever cherished by her surviving 6 children: Jason Piner, David Melendez, Antonio Melendez, Serafina Melendez, Daniel Melendez and Maria Melendez along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her 3 siblings: Eda Smith, Helen Carlos and Patrizio Angelone who hold her dearly in their memory.
Anna also has numerous family and extended family in Italy that she contacted in her later years, whom she held in the highest regard. Anna was extremely proud of her Italian heritage and never lost where she came from nor her love of Italo-Mediterranean cuisine.
Anna is preceded in death by her husband Tomas and son Joseph Melendez who welcome her into eternity with Jesus.
A service will be held that is open to all who wish to celebrate Anna's life, her walk in faith and subsequent victory in Christ over sin and death on Friday, February 21st at Faith Assembly of God, 3900 28th St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33714 at 9:30am. After interment there will be a potluck celebration at the church with refreshments provided.
