Anna Marie Marbet's Obituary
Anna Marie Knox Marbet, born May 5, 1921 in Abilene, Texas passed away on May 12, 2017 in St. Petersburg, FL. She was a Ministers daughter of the Presbyterian faith. She graduated in 3 years from McMurray College in 1942 in Abilene, Texas with honors. She was of the top ten of her Junior and Senior Class and was member of the Alpha Chi Sorority. She taught fifth grade in both Abilene, TX and Johnson City, NY. She was hired by the American Red Cross during WWII to serve on the Recreational Staff at the Army Hospital. She trained in Washington DC and was stationed at Strategic Air Command-Army Air Force Personnel Distribution Center at the Army Air Force Hospital, Kelly Field in San Antonio, TX. She moved to Florida in 1963 and did not return to teaching as was engaged to a wholesale jeweler and like to travel to jewelry shows in New York. She then went to work at the Pasadena Realty as a Broker and Sales Agent until 1968 where she achieved “Salesman of the Month” ten times. She them opened her own Antique Business called “The House of Gold” in St. Petersburg, FL until she retired in 1978. She also had two booths at the “Wagon Wheel Flea Market” she worked on weekends for thirty years. She was a “Born Collector”, collecting antique perfume bottles, Christmas tree pins, watches, bags and shoes. She told her family to put on her tombstone , “She wore Ralph Lauren and kept a clean car!” Her whole passion was children and antiques. She is survived by three children; Bruce, Pam and Lloyd, seven grandchildren, Jason Marbet, Ashley Marbet, Megan Marbet, Allison Marbet, Kristin Eastman, Gathering Marbet and Tai Marbet; seven great-grandchildren, Camren, Alexis, Skyla, Ethan, Jax, Lily and Luke; one great great-grandchild, Selena.
