Mrs. Anita B. Gordon's Obituary
Anita B. Gordon, of Seminole, passed away peacefully at her home on October 26th, 2010, at the age of 91. Born in Cleveland Ohio on August 8th, 1919 to the late Thomas and Bird Dick, she was the third of four daughters. The family moved to Windham, OH, where Anita spent her childhood and graduated from high school. Anita attended Kent State University and graduated from Business College in Cleveland Ohio with a Bachelors Degree. She was an Administrative Assistant at the American Brass Factory in Cleveland before she moved to New York City. She traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada, before relocating to San Francisco, CA where she was a Corporate Executive Secretary for twenty years. It was in San Francisco where Anita reconnected with her high school sweetheart, James R. Gordon (Dick) and they married on April 14, 1962. They moved to St. Petersburg in 1969 where together they owned and operated a hardware store. They retired to Seminole in 1996, where her beloved husband predeceased her in 2001. Throughout her life she was a loving, caring and devoted wife, sister, aunt and dear friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her stepdaughter Nancy (Jeffrey) Stiles, Ventura CA; stepson Gary Gordon, Las Vegas, NV; sisters: Nathalie Bernache, Middleburg VA and Virginia (Robert) Buckhout, Glen Head, NY; niece Catherine Bernache (Jim Poston), Middleburg VA; nephew Mark (Helen) Cetrone, Stony Brook, NY; step nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends especially her lifelong friend, Jane Richardson of Cooperstown, NY. In addition to her parents and husband, James R. Gordon (Dick), she was predeceased by her sister Evelyn Davis in 2005; nephews: Tom Bernache in 2007 and John Bernache in 1974. Anita was also especially grateful to Brelon and Marian Hill and Betty Madren for their friendship, help and support. In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions in her memory be sent to Sun Coast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760.
