Althea Chin-Neath's Obituary
Althea Chin-Neath was born in Jamaica, West Indies to the late Robert Anderson & Hazel Gordon on October 8, 1962. She attended Jacks river primary school before migrating to the United States in the 1970’s with her family. Althea completed her education at Plainfield High School in New Jersey. In the late 1980’s, the family decided to relocate from New Jersey to Florida.
Althea acquired several different jobs in her early years but fell in love with childcare, as she always had a passion for helping people in need. In the late 1990’s Althea decided to also pursue her nursing degree so she could help adults in need overnight after working with children during the day. After working in childcare and nursing for a few years, Althea decided to register her business (Tia’s Daycare) and to focus on caring for children during the day and some overnight. In the early 2000’s, Althea also took on the challenge of in-home foster kids, and at-risk children. Her passion for taking care of children grew even more rewarding as time went on because she kept in close contact with younger children that she helped raise who would return to visit her as adults who have made successful impact in our society and attained successful careers
Over the years, Althea had become a second mother to the children that attended her day care or lived in her home. She has never advertised her business, but she always had a waiting list for her childcare services. She was an exceptional nannie who created a suitable environment for the children to feel at home and to not lack any necessities while under her care. Childcare was her passion and everyone who was in her circle was very much aware of it.
Althea was a very compassionate, generous, loving, vivacious and caring person who lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, travelling, counseling friends & family, creating social events for family, helping the needy, and was very family oriented. She was not only loved but highly admired by her family and friends for her accomplishments.
Althea is survived by her sons, Lamar Chin & Devon Neath II, Spouse, Devon Neath SR, 3 sisters – Maureen Davis, Karleen Toyloy, Arlene Hutchinson, and 5 brothers, Geoffrey Anderson, Romeo Anderson, Sobas Anderson, Gregory Anderson, Anthony Anderson and Grandson, Ian Chin and a host of other families and friends.
A visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 5th from 11:00am until 12:30pm, with the funeral service beginning at 12:30pm. A reception will be held following from 2:30pm until 5:30pm at funeral home.
