Alicia Ann Prather's Obituary
“REMEMBERING ANN”
Alicia Ann Prather was born April 9, 1961, to Alice Gray of Smithfield, Virginia and Gentry David Prather of Deland, Florida.
Alicia (Ann) received her high school diploma from Miami Springs Senior High School in 1979. After graduation from high school, she started working in a facility as a secretary. Alicia (Ann) married Gregory Dempsey and they moved to Panama City, Florida. During her marriage she was a member of the Jehovah Witness congregation. She was no longer a member of the congregation. Alicia (Ann) worked at various facilities as a Custodial Worker. She worked in different cities in Florida, such as Panama City, Miami and Saint Petersburg to name a few. She was excellent at her jobs and took great pride in providing excellent service.
Alicia (Ann) was the mother of two sons, Maurice and Bernard Dempsey from Gregory Dempsey (former spouse).
Alicia (Ann) loved her family and was very devoted to caring for her son, Bernard. They were inseparable, if you saw Alicia (Ann), Bernard was always near, “two peas in a pod”. Alicia (Ann) was also so proud of her son Maurice and the man he is today, a devoted husband and father who was always there if she needed him. Alicia (Ann) gained a daughter when Maurice and Amanda wed, she is the daughter she never had, whom she loved and appreciated.
Alicia (Ann) was the second daughter born to Alice and Gentry Prather. There was a houseful of five girls and one boy, and she enjoyed our time together growing up. Dad would take us on different trips together, like the circus and the beach, she just loved every minute of it. Alicia (Ann) was always quiet and reserved growing up, but she excelled in school and loved our Gladeview neighborhood growing up, we were a big happy family.
Alicia (Ann) also shared a special bond with our youngest sister Dionne growing up. She would take her everywhere she went and they enjoyed their time together.
Alicia (Ann) leaves to cherish her love and memory: two sons, Maurice Dempsey (Amanda), and Bernard Dempsey; two grandchildren Marquell Dempsey and Kaidan Dempsey; one step-mom, Florine Prather; three sisters: Janet Walker (Eric), Marlene George (Glenn) and Dionne Miles (Demetrius) and one brother Richard Elamin and one sister Henrietta Jones (deceased); and Gregory Dempsey (former spouse) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
