Alexandra Bielskis' Obituary
Alexandra Bielskis, 95, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on May 4, 2024 in the care of Suncoast Hospice. Born in Panevezys, Lithuania to her parents, Elena Karpuskaite and Bazilijus Fomiciovas, her early years were marked with difficulties, but the challenges of poverty and the brutalities of World War II formed her unequivocally positive outlook and approach to life. Through these struggles, she shaped her poignant personality and imbued it with great wisdom and grace.
At age 15, on June 6, 1944, a date better remembered as D-Day, Alexandra began her journey to America. The long trek through Poland, Yugoslavia, Austria, and Germany took over five years. Her early to mid-twenties were spent in London from where, in 1955, she finally emigrated to the United States.
Her experiences and observations of her youth formed her philosophical approach to life. She sought to understand others, she never placed blame on another, and she believed in changing oneself for the better to solve any problem rather than forcing change elsewhere. Rather than let life's difficulties make her anxious or afraid, she saw them as challenges to help her grow. Learn from the past, plan for the future, and embrace and live in the moment was her life's mantra.
Alexandra leaves behind her devoted husband Edward, her four loving children Vida Dedinas (Decatur, GA), Kestas Dedinas (Cambodia), Renata Bielskis (Naperville, IL), Ramona (Ken) Inda and grand-daughter Natalia Inda (Hilton Head Island, SC). She is predeceased by her parents, Elena and Bazilijus Fomiciovas, and her siblings Vanda, Aldona, and Evaldas.
Alexandra will be remembered as a generous, patient, resourceful, empathetic, and elegant woman; one who sought to make others feel understood and appreciated. A woman of natural charm, wit, warmth, wisdom, and talent.
Services in Florida will take place at Memorial Park Funeral Home in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, May 8th at 4:00 pm, followed by a reception from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
A Memorial Service and burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Chicago area.
