Mr. Albert Fones' Obituary
Fones, Albert, of St. Petersburg, died on Monday, January 21, 2013. He is survived by his partner of 44 years, Raymond L. McColgan of St. Petersburg; his sisters Ellena Troia and Rita Sofinowski of Baltimore, MD and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Italy. He is predeceased by his parents, Ernesto and Carmela Fones (Cuomo) of Naples, Italy; his brothers Vittorio and Aldo Fones of Naples, Italy and his sisters Iolanda Fones of Naples, Italy and Anna Fones of Baltimore, MD. Al came to the United States from Naples, Italy at a young age and settled in Baltimore, MD. He was proud of his learned trade as a welder and worked for ArcRods before working for the US Naval Academy and then the US Coast Guard in Curtis Bay, MD. He was most proud of his work building ships for the Coast Guard. Friends and family may visit on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 7:00 - 9:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th St. N. St. Petersburg, FL 33709. A mass of Christian Burial will be said at The Episcopal Cathedral Church of St. Peter, 140 4th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00am. Interment will immediately follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Al would have wanted donations to be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - StJude.org
