Adis Gonzalez's Obituary
Adis Gonzalez of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at St. Anthony's Hospital. She was born November 23, 1935 in Ciego de Avila, Camaguey, Cuba to Arsenio and Ildelisa (Alfonso) Cruz who predeceased her, along with her stillborn granddaughter, Sophia. She left Cuba in the late 1960's after her father was murdered by the Communist regime and lived in Tampa, FL where her daughter was born. Adis was a devoted mother raising her daughter on her own with the help of her mother. She lived most of her life in Miami, but spent the last few months of her life with her daughter in St. Petersburg. She is survived by her daughter and her son-in-law, Lisset and Wayne Hanewicz; her granddaughter, Ana Sofia Hanewicz; her brother and sister-in-law, Juan and Jorgelina Cruz; her nephews and their spouses, Juan & Brenir Cruz, Luis & Vanessa Cruz, and Arsenio & Saidy Cruz; and her great-nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
