Maria Teresa Sotolongo, 92, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away September 9, 2023. She was born on December 24, 1930 in Cuba to Gerardo Aguirre and Ana Perez. Maria came to the United Stated in the 60’s and completed her Master’s De Read Obituary
Mrs Sotolongo was my teacher long ago. I only wish I had paid more attention to those lessons! I remember her well and know she will be greatly missed by her family.

Mrs. Sotolongo, teaching Spanish at Meadowlawn Jr High, left a lasting impact of her passion and enthusiasm for teaching. Decade after decade, there would be moments with my siblings when some comments / discussion of speaking Spanish would arise, and memories of how influential Mrs. Sotolongo was would be discussed. A smile simply comes to my face when I think of her and her teaching of Spanish. One of her mantras was "Yo, yo, yo -- No!!".
