Jerry was family to me and I hope he knew that. Not only was he a dependable friend full of wisdom with a bit of humor, but also somewhat of a mentor. I'm so grateful for the time we spent together and the lessons he taught me. Such a talent for storytelling too. I think about him always and I truly miss him.
Jerry was the closest thing I ever had to a brother. We grew up in Memphis until around the age 10 and Jerry and his mother moved to St Pete Florida. Our family would visit on vacation over the last 50 years almost every year if to see these relatives. The world lost a very interesting person in Jerry Fred Haire, a person that had more friends than you could count. A jovial and very socially active person who in his prime probably knew most of the people in St Pete with his real estate business and all the bar business through the years. It was always refreshing to talk to Jerry and to hear his jovial voice. My wife Rose and I wish the family love and sympathy for thier/our loss. My next opportunity I'll have Jerry's favorite beer Heineken and have a toast to all the good times with Jerbear! Wes Prewett, Jerry's cousin.
