Foster, my deepest condolences to you and your family at this time. I did not know your mother, but from what I read, she sounds like an amazing woman of faith. And, what a great pic of the two of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time!! God bless, my friend...Robert Uhls

Barb and I met many many years ago through a friend and we became good friends; it was I who introduced her to her husband, Donald Ackerman. In the early days, Barb would ride along with me when I had a very large paper route delivering the St. Petersburg Times and it was here that she first learned that when you have to "tinkle", you had to figure out how to go, without interrupting the delivery of those papers. So in the back of the van, among hundreds of papers, there was Barb with her can. We would laugh for hours and hours over silly, stupid stuff that ended up being good memories.
Barb loved her children and she loved her brothers. How many times I have heard over and over the day she accepted Christ, when her brother was determined he and the Holy Spirit WOULD see to it that Barbara found Jesus.
At our family gatherings over the years (Barbara married Don who was my former husband) so our gatherings were quite large; but Barbara would always want to sing songs about Jesus. Amazing Grace, What a Friend We Have In Jesus, and actually Jesus Loves Me was also one of her favorites.
One fact was always very clear to everyone who knew Barbara, she loved Jesus and He was her Savior and Jesus loved her just exactly as she was. I believe that Jesus was the only one in Barbara's life who accepted her exactly as she was; and then there was Don. He loved her and tumultuous as it was at times through their lives together, she never stopped looking after Don and he never stopped looking after her. One of the special things Barb would do is she would stop, look directly in your face and say, "aw, I love you Pat."
We watched our children grow up; we watched our lives change and we kept those wacky memories of our time together tucked into a little spot in our heart. There is a season for all things and a season in our lives for loving, forgiving and continuing. Jesus loves those songs, my friend Barb! See you there with him.

My deepest condolences to all of you. Your Mom was a special person. She will be missed. Gary & Jimmy
Barbara's son Foster is a friend at work who has shared memories of his mom through the years. It's ironic that each of us had a parent at the same assisted living that passed just a few days apart. She shared a wonderful son with us at Poynter and we are thankful.
