Retired Police Chief Terry E. Hughes of Seminole FL., age 69, passed away Friday April 22, 2022. Chief Hughes was born in Ottawa, Ohio on January 22, 1953, to Robert Nelson and Martha Eva Hughes (Kuhbander), he served 44 years in law enforcement; 11 years in Columbus Grove, Ohio as Chief of Police and 28 years with Indian Shores Police department with 5 years as the Chief of Police. His love of people was evident in his dedication to his work and his willingness to work countless hours. In addition, to his law enforcement career, he worked as an EMT, Corrections Officer, and truck driver. During Terry’s retirement he has been working on his memoirs, enjoyed hallmark movies, fishing, and spending time with family. Terry is survived by his wife Pamela Hughes, who he married on March 30, 1991, at Fort DeSoto Park in St. Petersburg; his 7 children and 2 sons-in-law - Joseph and Renee (Hughes) Schroeder, Gorden and Kerri (Hughes) Purvis, Ronual Ratliff, George Ratliff, Paul Hughes, Sean Hughes, and Kyle Hughes; and 8 grandchildren - Cassandra Adkins, Austin Hughes, Alixander Spahr, Caleb Schroeder, Nicholas Stiegler, Serenity Ratliff, Katie Cottle, and John Cottle-Spencer. He was preceded in death by his brothers Don and Alan Hughes. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday, April 28th, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, with the service starting at 3:00 pm.
