Halliday, Richard W., 80, of St. Petersburg, passed away on October 21, 2021. He was born December 14, 1940, in Peekskill, NY. Richard enjoyed his early years growing up in Croton-on-Hudson and was the youngest of 3 brothers. He was a US Navy veteran who found the Navy at age 19. Richard served abroad the USS Buck and USS Columbus in the Pacific fleet visiting many ports and countries during troubled times. He served for 6 years, earning the rank of Signalman 3rd Class and receiving much praise from his Superiors for his ability to lead men and build morale while successfully completing assigned tasks. In his working years, he was known for his hard work ethic and motivating others to complete all assigned tasks. Richard worked for Coke Cola for 9 memorable years as a supervisor, being in charge of Sales for local “Special Events.” He spent his last 14 working years working for St. Petersburg Times with Sales, Transportation and Distribution. Richard retired early at age 64 due to health issues. He enjoyed reading, travelling, and especially looked forward to taking one trip every year, mostly cruising in the sunny Caribbean. Richard loved all our dogs, watching TV re-runs and favorite movies and loved his Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He loved attending church and so missed the weekly services while they were closed due to the pandemic but learned to enjoy YouTube and often surfed several church services and enjoyed Gaithers music and others on TV. He loved his family and was overjoyed with the arrival of each grandchild. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Halliday and his two older brothers Robert and Albert Halliday. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gail; daughters Andrea Brown and Yolanda Frame; son John Felts, whom were at his side when he went to sleep in Jesus. Richard is also survived by daughters Debbie Kirschbaum and Tammy Faulkner from a previous marriage. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was loved dearly, and we will miss him until we can all be reunited again.
