I was in the Navy with Dick at Mayport, Florida from 1957 through 1959. I was a flight surgeon and I know he took up flying later and flew with his son. Since we served together at Mayport we have been exchanging Christmas cards every year until this year when I failed to receive a card from Dick so I was fearful something had happened to him. He was a great friend.

My condolences to all of Dick's family.
I met Dick when I joined the St. Petersburg Medical Clinic in 1987.
I was a young doctor just out of the US Air Force and knew almost nothing about the business of medicine. Dick became a mentor to me. My office was just down the hall from his and I became a member of his call group. He was a very skilled physician with excellent bedside manner who truly cared about his patients and colleagues.
As president of the clinic, he oversaw construction of it's new building and suffered an injury from a fall while he was inspecting the progress of construction.
I continue to be grateful for all I learned from him and honored to have known and worked with him. Thank you.

Barbara, Carol, and Rick- I am so saddened and shocked to have just read about the passing of your dad in the paper. He was the kindest, caring, and compassionate man. Our families were friends for many years and there are no words that can express how heartbroken I am! I know that he is leaving a huge hole in each of your hearts!!!!!!!!!!!
