Memorial Park Cemetery
Memorial Park Cemetery was founded 80 years ago to serve the ever-increasing burial needs of St. Petersburg residents. The cemetery encompasses 104 acres, features two mausoleums and offers cremation gardens, cremation niches, a columbarium, and numerous garden sections.
Of special interest is “The Life of Christ Chapel,” showcasing 12 priceless mosaics depicting the Life of Christ. Local artist Earl Gresh created the mosaics. Each took one year to complete and is comprised of woods from around the world. When Mr. Gresh passed away he was entombed in one of the chapel crypts where he can forever enjoy the beautiful art he created.
The Veterans Garden in the cemetery features a special Veterans memorial known as “Five Star.” Five honor flags, one from each branch of service, pay perpetual tribute to our fallen heroes.
Memorial Park Funeral Home
Memorial Park Funeral Home was constructed in the cemetery in 1991 to offer area residents complete funeral arrangements in one convenient location. The 11,500-square-foot facility has marble floors and includes a nondenominational chapel to accommodate 100 visitors, private family rooms, a coffee room and administrative offices.
Life is very precious. When a life does end, saying good-bye is very
difficult. It is the mission of Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery to
assist families through this most difficult period by providing the very finest
services and products in the most caring and meaningful way.

I have been in the industry for over 5 years and I am very happy with my choice of career. I enjoy helping people, especially on the worse day of their lives. I joined North Star in April, 2017. Regardless of the length of time, I am so excited to be a part of such a great company. I feel very cared for and I truly feel as a part of a great team. I am originally from Czech Republic and I have been in the US for about 7 years. I love to read, travel, the Jet Ski, scuba diving and the gym. I am currently studying at Saint Petersburg College to get my second Bachelor degree in Management and later on continue to MBA.
Daniel Bryan, Chapel Location Manager
Dan Bryan comes from a rich family heritage of funeral service. He is a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and brings over 30 years of experience to Southwest Florida. He is passionate about serving others in their time of need and is committed to excellence in all he does. Dan is married to the love of his life, has four amazing daughters and two awesome grandchildren. He is devoted to his family, committed to his faith and looks forward to the many adventures life has to offer!

Melanie Bowen, Funeral Director
Melanie joined the Memorial Park Funeral Home family in 2010 and continues to serve families of the Tampa Bay area as she’s done for more than a decade. After deciding that she wanted to be able to help people in a unique way, she attended and graduated from the Funeral Service Program at St. Petersburg Junior College (now St. Petersburg College) in 2002 and became a Licensed Funeral Director in 2003. Being able to help people through their darkest days gives her a great sense of accomplishment. Some of her favorite pastimes include cheering on the Tampa Bay Rays, reading and spending time with family and friends. Melanie lives in the Meadowlawn area of St. Petersburg with her husband, 4 children and 4 four-legged children.
Peter Hardy, Funeral Director
Pete started with the opening of Memorial Park Funeral Home in 1991 as the original Manager. He has been a licensed Funeral Director in the Tampa Bay Area for 34 years and is dedicated to serving families at the time of their greatest need of comfort, care and support. Pete is also a Florida native and a longtime resident of Pinellas Park with many family members living in the Bay Area.
Rachel Troutt, Funeral Director
Being the child of two licensed funeral directors peaked Rachel’s interest in the profession leading her to join the Memorial Park family in July of 2007 starting as a receptionist. She then attended St. Petersburg College majoring in the Funeral Service Program where she graduated with her degree in 2010. After completing her internship she remained with Memorial Park as a Licensed Funeral Director. She found that her calling is in helping families through their most difficult times, guiding them, reassuring them and helping them step by step as they plan and pay tribute to their loved ones. Rachel is a native to the St. Petersburg area and owns a home in Seminole. In her free time Rachel loves to be with her son and fiancé. She is a bit of a beach bum, enjoys skating, scrapbooking and reading.

Gardner has been helping families with their pre-planning of cemetery and funeral arrangements within the New York, New Jersey and Florida area for over 17 years. What Gardner finds to very rewarding for him is to hear a family say “Thank You?? to him after serving them before and after a loss of a loved one.

Rosie Slater, Community Service Supervisor
Rosie Slater was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Seeking warmer weather, she moved to Madeira Beach in 1978 with her daughter Tammy. Rosie initially became a prominent and long-standing hairdresser in the area, before she bought and operated Rosie’s Clam Shack restaurant in Pinellas Park for 10 years. Rosie has a perennial compassion for people and community service. Her daughter is a Funeral Director in the area, which is how she came to know and appreciate the funeral profession. Her compassion and drive to serve, coupled with knowledge of her daughters profession, compelled her to join this benevolent industry. During here time off, Rosie loves to spend time with Carl, and her dog Bella along with riding motorcycles, sailing and surfing.

Scarlett Vita, Clerical & Administrative Specialist
Scarlett was born and raised in the beautiful state of Minnesota where people are treated like family and there are no strangers. Her neighbors owned the local funeral home, where Scarlett spent many an hour while they babysat her. From an early age, she learned the arts of empathy, caring, and compassion. Scarlett has an affinity for the arts and is a professionally trained and certified floral designer, and has studied Interior Design at the Art Institute. In 2001, the beautiful, balmy weather and sugar sands of the bay area drew Scarlett and her wonderful Husband, Frank of 19 years to the sunshine state. In her spare time Scarlett enjoys spoiling her two beloved Pomeranians (Vincenzo and Violet) creating floral designs, practicing yoga, and taking classes at the Dunedin Fine Art Center. She is honored to work at Memorial Park and takes great pride in her work, while helping families in their greatest time of need.
Kathleen Ann Stutts, Clerical & Administrative Specialist
Kathy began working with Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery as a devoted Family service counselor caring for our families needs shortly after moving to St. Petersburg from Ft. Worth, Texas. Although she left behind her adult daughter and grandson, she keeps busy and challenged raising her teenage son who is very involved in Robotics and plans to get his Masters in Aerospace Engineering. Kathy loves exploring all that the local area has to offer and is our resident world traveler having visited 45 U.S. States and 35 countries. In February of 2015 she transitioned from Family Services to our Administrative Department to be the Administrative Specialist for Woodlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery which she holds near and dear to her heart as both her mother and sister were laid to rest in the cemetery in 2013 & 2014 respectively.
Krystal Putnam, Clerical & Admininstrative Specialist
Krystal has been our receptionist for the past 3 years and always offers a friendly voice when answering the phone. She is also responsible for the printing of our memorial books, scheduling the services in the park and ordering our lasting memorials here at the cemetery. Being a single mother her daughter is the primary interest in her life. She also is active in her church at St. Marks United Methodist.

Filomena Ceglanski, Clerical & Administrative Specialist
Filomena began working at Memorial park in 2010 as a weekend receptionist and cemetery service scheduler. She moved into the Administration department in 2011 and is constantly striving to serve our families with the utmost compassion, courtesy and respect. She is originally from Billerica, Mass. She moved to Florida in 2002 and lives in Pinellas park with her husband, 2 sons and future daughter-in-law. She enjoys raising Bearded Dragons and Gecko’s as well as watching her oldest son play hockey.

Harry has been with Memorial Park Cemetery since July 2012. Prior to that, he worked at Sylvan Abbey for seven years as a landscape supervisor. He graduated from Youngstown State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. His work experience includes 30 years in management positions and operating his own business as a licensed landscape contractor. He currently resides in Largo and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren
